VMware SRM installation and configuration steps

SRM
Primary and Secondary with vCenter  installed on both side
IP address and naming are given as a example
/ means to click or check  to next step
// means comments or notes
=====Start here==================Installation SRM
you can install SRM in vCenter or in other VM also. Here am installing SRM in vCenter.

Run SRM application
/click Next  //Welocome to installation page
/click Next //Vmware Patents
/Check agree and click Next //EULA
/click Next //if Destination floder is in correcr path or you can change path
/click Next //check install vSphere Replication
/Enter vCenter Credentials //vCenter address,port no(80 default),username and password
/click Next
/click Next  //Certificate Source select Automatic
/click Next //enter organization and organization unit
/click Next //enter local sitename Admin email
/click Next //Database info select db client,Data Source name(odbc),username and password
/click Install
/click Finish

//Repeat this step on Replicated site
=====End here==================Installation SRM

Go to service.msc check for SRM service runing or not. If service is not running manually  run it.
==========start here========install plugins
open vCenter from client and login
In plugin tab click on Manage Plugins
you will see VMware vCenter SRM plugins in "Available plugins"
/click on "Download and install"
/Certificate warning popup
/check install this certifiacte.... and click Ignore
Open file window will open
/Click Run
/Select language and click OK

/Click Next //welcome page
/Click Next //VMware Patents
/Check i accept and Click Next //Licence Agreement page
/Click Install
/Click Finish

//Repeat this step on Replicated site

In vsphere client check SRM
home>Solution and Applications>Site Recovery

Left hand site you will see
Sites
Array Managers
vSphere Replication
Protection Groups
Recovery Plans

Protected site
Name: vcenter101

Replicated Site
Name: vcenter102


open site recovery
note: I have open'd vcenter101
Step 1
Click "configure connection" //you can find it in Getting started or Summary

Step 2
address: vcenter102.exampleadds.local
Next
Note:exampleadds.local is domain

Step 3
"validate vcenter server certificate" window will open
Click ok

Step 4
type username and password of vcenter102
click Next

Step 5
"validate Site Recovery Manager Certificate" window will open
click ok

Step 6
Click finish

Step 7
"Remote vcenter server" window will open
type username and password for vcenter102
click ok

Step 8
"Security Warning" window will open
tick "install this certificate and ...."
Click ignore

Step 9
open Recovery site in vcenter102

Step 10
Repeat Step 7 and 8
Note type username and password for vcenter101

============Start of======== Deploy and Configure VR appliance and server
1 Click vSphere Replication in the left pane of the SRM interface, and select a site. A site is indicated by a folder icon.
2 Click the Summary tab.

Phase 1 : Deploy the VR Appliance
Step 1 Click on Delploy VR Appliance
window will open  "Delploy VR Appliance"(lanch ovf wizard...)
click ok
"Delploy OVF Appliance" window will open
Step 2 For Source /Click Next
Step 3 For OVF Template Details /Click Next
Step 4 Name and Location /Select DC /Click Next
Step 5 Specifc Host /Select Host /Click Next
Step 6 Storage /Select Datastore /Click Next
Step 7 Disk Format /Select Thin Provision /Click Next
Step 8 Properties
-Application
/Enter root password
-Networking Properties
/Enter DNS "172.168.16.2"

/Click Next

Step 9 Service Binding
/Provider : vCenter Extension vService
 /Click Next
Step 10 Ready to complete
/Click Finish

Deploying vSphere Replication Appliance load to 100%
Completed Successfully
 /Click close

Phase 2:Configure VR Appliance

1 Click Configure VR Appliance in rigth side
2 Browser opens with ip 172.168.16.16:5480
Note:172.168.16.16 is VR Appliance ip
Click Continue to this Website
3 login page
Username: root(default)
Password:example@123
4 Configuration tab
VRM Host: 172.168.16.16
VRM Site Name: repVR.exampleadds.local
vCenter Server Address:vCenter102.exampleadds.local

vCenter Server Port:80

vCenter Server Admin Mail:charvo@examplesystem.com
Click Start in Service Status
Click Generate and install
Click Save and Restart Service

Secuity Warning Click Ignore Repeats 2 times

Phase 3:Configure VR Connection

1 Click Configure VR Connection.
2 Click Yes to confirm that you want to connect the sites.
3 Click OK.

Phase 4 : Deploy the VR Server
Step 1 Click on Delploy VR Server
window will open "Delploy VR Server"(lanch ovf wizard...)
click ok
"Delploy OVF Server" window will open
Step 2 For Source /Click Next
Step 3 For OVF Template Details /Click Next
Step 4 Name and Location /Select DC /Click Next
Step 5 Specifc Host /Select Host /Click Next
Step 6 Storage /Select Datastore /Click Next
Step 7 Disk Format /Select Thin Provision /Click Next
Step 8 Properties
-Application
/Enter root password
-Networking Properties
/Enter Gateway "172.168.16.52"
/Enter DNS "172.168.16.2"
/Enter Network1 "172.168.16.17"( VR server ip)
/Enter netmask "255.255.0.0"
/Click Next

Step 9 Service Binding
/Provider : vCenter Extension vService
 /Click Next
Step 10 Ready to complete
/Click Finish

Deploying vSphere Replication Appliance load to 100%
Completed Successfully
 /Click close


Phase 5 : Register VR Server

1 Click Register VR Server.
2 Select VR server in list
  window will open  "Do you want to register vSphere Replication Server as a VR Server?"
 /Click Yes to confirm .
3 Registering VR server...succeeded. 
 /Click OK.

Open host and cluster
Home>Inventory>Host and Clusters
Open “Sites” in Left hand side Map Resource, Folders,  Network, Placeholder
Open “vSphere Replication” in Left hand side
Right click on VM and click on vSphere Replication
/click yes and ok //it will sync vm to Replicated site
Open Protect groups from left hand side
create Protection group and select vm in sync 
You can see percentage of sync of vm
Once sync is completed you can Check Recovery Plans
==========start of=====Recovery plan=======
In recovery plan you can find tabs summary, protection groups, VM, Recovery site, history, Permissions
There are five option in in protection groups
1.       Test
2.       Cleanup
3.       Recovery
4.       Reprotect
5.       Cancel
/Test it will test vm to get prepare to recovery
/Cleanup it will bring back vm to previous state
/ Recovery and it will transfer VM from protected site to Recovery Site
/Reprotect will bring VM from Recovery site back to protect site(primary)
